I collect all coins ancient to modern, all cultures. I have about 200 books and papers on the subject of numismatics generally. That means for me, that ANYTHING in the show, in the $1 to $1,000 price range, may capture my interest. It puts me in the ideal cherry picking position. I normally take a few hundred dollar notes to the Sydney ANDA show, and only very rarely come home with nothing.
I will also pay my yearly subscription for membership to the Australian Numismatic Society at the show, in person.
I normally go around the whole show, and inspect anything that captures my interest. That takes a couple of hours. I sit down have lunch, spend time catching up with a lot of my numismatic acquaintences, and spin a few friendly yarns over lunch. I will speak to anyone during lunch, that means novice collectors, long time numismatic buddies, and some dealers who know me fairly well. The afternoon is usually spent in negotiating new purchases.
Getting to the show is dead easy for me. No parking to worry about. $2.50 seniors' rail fare. 10 minutes walk from home to the railway station. Rail trip takes 45 minutes each way. The show istelf is two minutes walk from the railway station. I catch up with numismatic reading with material I may have acquired on the way home.

I'll be there, buying paper currency. I'll definitely stop by Tony James' stall, hes my favourite dealer, deals specifically in the area I collect and is not stingy.

I will be there tomorrow, I primarily collect Canadian coins so I'm not expecting to find much, most of the dealers I have picked their Canadian stock clean by now. It doesn't look like a few of the dealers I like to visit are going to be there, hopefully I come home with a few things anyway and have a good time. If you want stamps stick to the Petersham show!

The show was pretty good there weren't as many dealers as a few years ago but generally the coins where very good and prices even better. Anyway today for me was a very new experience for me as I only purchased PCGS graded coins and also learnt a lot about using a magnifying glass and the values of PCGS coins (due to one very nice gentleman who gave me some great advice. A number of dealers deserve commendation including Drake Sterling and Pacific Rim Coins while a number deserve a less than satisfactory recommendation such as attempting to pass of cleaned and overgraded coins as well as just plain ignoring me. Anyway here are my pick ups from the show: 1910 Shilling MS64 (looks 65 to be honest) 1962 Shilling MS66 1963 Shilling MS65 1957M Threepence MS66 1958M Penny MS64RB 1964M Penny MS63RD If you want you can guess how much I spent on each or in total and I will post up what I paid either later today or tomorrow.

If I knew it was you OMF , I would have got Chris (pacific rims)in a headlock for yar , and made him give you a discount hehe . But in reality ; I was happy to see pacific rims and drake sterling had plenty of very nice high graded but common dated coins in pcgs slabs for very low prices, just over slabbing costs I would say . Well done again OMF , you can drop me a message anytime , I will be happy to help.

Hi OMF. Saw you there as well, I was lurking behind bellyflorin when you were at Drake Sterling's display. Glad to hear you've picked up a few nice coins. I hope they're to your satisfaction.
