Finally got a ptolemy I like. I paid a lot for it. Another one coming up tommorow I'm going to try for (it looks heavier and its 2mm wider). Ill decide which one I prefer and whack the other one back on the bay if I win one tomorrow.

Not the deep brown patina a lot of them have, but I think it'll come out nicely with an oil bath to darken it and a good waxing. Ill take a picture of it in hand so you guys can see how bloody big it is.

Nice, I'm still waiting for a nice big ptolemy for a good price. Hard to find such pieces, most are overpriced because they are very popular

Very overpriced. I doubt the syrian crisis is helping. They all come from egypt/middle east and its not going swimmingly over there. If I get the other one tomorrow or whenever it finishes and I decide to keep one, ill PM you. (your PM isn't on)

Nice coin for your entrance to the "Big League". Warning once you start down this road those small AE's may start to look like ....... small Ae's ! Bigger isn't always better. But they are more fun to 'play' with.

Its about as big as your Carthage thing, isn't it? The 42mm is already going over the cost of this one, but I'm going for it anyway.

It's close. My 15 shekel is 45mm, ~95g. ~7mm thick.
