Yeah, that one looks good to go. The '21 Morgans were slightly redesigned and do not look exactly like the older Morgans.

I see nothing wrong with the '21. The "bleeding" downward below the date digits is typical of San Francisco 1921's, caused by the level of die wear. They tend to seem more "deeply" struck, as well; I can pretty reliably tell a 1921-S Morgan without looking at the date or mint mark.

thanks gang - I feel a bit better now.
These prob weren't a steal, hopefully not horrible pricewise, but I just wanted to bring something home to put in the new Dansco album. I guess I freaked myself out a bit comparing them.

Looks ok to this oldtimer ... Did you check the 1882 to see if it's an O/S variety?

The 1921 has a different design. They changed a few things after the 17 year halt.
With that said, they both look real and they are both cleaned. You overpaid by about $20 imho.

$20 non cull morgans in similar condition? Honestly, please tell me where.
I do want to learn a bit more about how to spot cleaned coins and grading these Morgans and Peaces.
It doesn't appear to be a O/S - from what I read just now, you'll see a diagonal line through the O and with my 30x loupe, I'm not seeing it. But thanks for the tip on that one.
I'm just really looking for AU/BU examples to put in a Dansco date book. I started out at the show by trying to find some cheaper NGC/PCGS slabbed coins, but the lowest I found there was $55.

$40 is usually the ideal price but you did good I guess. Cleaning in both would drive down the price a bit but there is always value with the silver content.

Sorry to say they do look cleaned.
I bought a MS-63 Morgan for 70 from my dealer. They aren't really that much. You could try to save up a little.

Yeah, I'd like to get an eye for cleaned coins for sure. Until then, I'm ok to use them as place holders in the album. But yeah, I guess sticking with slabbed coins would be a bit safer.

Just don't think that those grades on the Brand X slabs are correct.
