I think it was definitely polished post mint... and not very carefully at that. Details grade for sure.

Quote: Ok and does that take away from the value? Since its really Bullion, silver is silver. You may lose some potential buyers who are turned off by the alteration. So to answer your question, yes it probably has altered the value as far as trying to get any premium over spot. But again, at melt, silver is silver.

I can understand that. I have to admit I have a couple of coins that I polished myself. They were old bullion that had personal value above monetary value, so I wanted to give it a little eye candy as I have no intention of selling it and it looks great now. Had some issues previous to the polish. Since yours is at the point of no return anyway, you could lessen the visible swirl marks with some GENTLE, HAND polishing only. Soft microfiber cloth with a very very light polishing compound. It should be so gentle that you feel like you aren't accomplishing anything.

Yes your coin is polished and scratched, it will only hold it's value as silver. Ask Santa for a proof for Christmas, they are awesome!

Yea I have found a polished washington silver quarter and it was worn but in the end it still holds it silver value so the coin isn't a total loss. In your case your ASE still has 1 ounce of pure silver value, that is better than nothing.
