Looking back at this fantastical coin, I really wish the nickel series kept the bison design. I think it would have been a hit. Love that coin!

Agreed. I really loved the semi-profile of Jefferson on the obverse, too. I wish they would have kept that design instead of the full frontal image of him. I'm not fond of that design at all!

I totally agree but then there would have been no collecter value, besides 2005 I haven seen 1 Buffalo nickel in circulaton! I have a few hundred myself (I bought my bank out) but the coin is very cool!

I was not thrilled with the same old Monticello returning in 2006. They could have changed it to the 1937 Felix Schlag art-deco design:

I get them in change at least once a week in the past two days I've found three in my pocket change. I get all the Louisiana purchase nickels and save them all.

Really I am not seeing these that often in my change. I see the new nickels a lot more often than I see these!

I have found a lot in Canada - I have more than half the set complete so far.

I see all four of the Westward Journey Nickels in my change regularly. As for saving the Bisons, back in 2005 a (now-retired) Wells Fargo senior teller got a $100 box of BU 2005-D Bison Nickels and saved it for me. I still have that bank box, and every Mint product the Westward Journey Nickels came in (including the Mint-wrapped rolls).

I live in Charlotte,North Carolina and very seldom ever see any Westward Journey Nickels I orderd mine from the Mint those years any coins that contained a Bison, hopeing some Native American would start making Jewelry with them..My advantage the Designer, Jamie Franki designer of the Bison and the 2006 Profile of Thomas Jefferson lives about 20-25 miles from me. He's also an Honorary Member of The Charlote Coin Club and signs the Red Coin Book and Bison Rolls . Stay tune for 2015 and you might see a Collection of Mint Bison Rolls with the 1st 50 Rolls signed by both designers on the Obverse and Reverse. Sorry I do not have enough comments to include pictures or want list
