I have a canvas bag full of these tokens.
The front reads: "Gold River 1993" and a has a cresant moon with a face and a wolf howling. The reverse side reads: "Gold is where you find it" and pictures and angel and 11 stars with the word "fortune."

These seem to mimic a coal mining company token, they're from 1993 however, so I thought perhaps they are a gaming token?

I've spent hours searching, and can find nothing about them.

Help would be appreciated!

Pictured is the bag they are in,unfortunately my phone camera can't get a good enough picture of the coins themselves.

Thank you for adding the pics. Sorry I can't help you but wait a bit and I am sure another CCF member will chime in. Good luck with your research.

It appears the Gold River Mining Company was an outfit in Tennessee where tourists could try their hand at sluicing for gold the old-fashioned way, after purchasing sacks of prefabricated "ore," seeded with bits of gold (or gemstones). The owner, one Galen Chadwick, patented his set-up, but the assignment of assignor's interest expired in 2000 after failure to pay the maintenance fee. (My apologies to anyone who actually does understand corporate and patent law!)

Okay so after reading, I found that when "mining" one could find "gemstones, precious metal ores, or arcade coins." I'm assuming that this bag of tokens I found served as these arcade coins.

Thanks philadelphian! I have no idea how you found information on this. I sure couldn't.
