Pick up another bargain Byzantine coin, this time a follis of Constantine V and his son Leo IV, struck in Syracuse, Sicily sometime between 751-775 AD.

AE Follis
Obv: K to left, LEWN to right, Constantine V to left and Leo IV to right, each holding akakia, with cross between their heads
Rev: Leo III (Constantine V's father) bearded, half-length figure standing, and holding cross potent
Syracuse mint
18 mm
Ref: SB 1569

Nice. Just started looking at mine tonight. They have been in soak for a week or so.

that's a nice one VK, most of those are pretty rough. I took a shot at one last month but fell short.

Syracuse is always one of my favorite mints no matter the time period. Gorgeous (for the period).
