Here's a question...

Given that German planchets can only really be verified on UNC coins, and given that twoonies were not a widely collected coin when they came out, and given that keeping boxes or rolls of UNC twoonies on the shelf is a little more costly than keeping say cents.......how many more German planchet coins are likely still to be found and verified?

I am thinking that there will be not that many more found relative to the mintage number, which is not that low for a "scarce coin"...say like the 2006P cent....

There always be more coins than collectors - 5 to 10 million minted.

Yeah....but what I am getting at is that despite that there 5 to 10 million minted, do you think there are that many more left in the wild to be found that can be positively identified?

I don't look for them, but has anyone seen a roll of German planchet toonies any time recently?

I never saw a roll that had only German twoonies. I saw rolls (and many of them) with only Canadian.

While the German planchets were being used in one press, canadian planchets were being used in other presses at the same time. Rolls reflect the mix.

Smallcentguy, I get your point but truth is, if there are 1000 coins out there, it will be enough for a century of collecting. Twoonies manage to be less loved than 10cents.

Look at the prices of the 2010 14 serrations. If this was a finding on another denomination we would have threads and threads discussing ... mmm ... statistics.

LOL

Yes, I did it! Who said I wouldn't?

Hello

If you want to see pictures and explanations that have been published on Numicanada.com in January 2013, but in French, here:

Happy reading

I read the Oct 8 post on Numicanada...

What exactly is your point, by linking that here and citing the date? For your information, t_y wrote his paper in September of 2012, I reviewed and provided peer-reviewed feedback to his paper in November of 2012, but it was not published in a formal journal until October of 2013.

Online posts on internet forums do not count as formal publications in any journal I know of. In any peer-reviewed publication, you cite the previous published literature, known to the author at the time. As a writer myself, I would cite the intellectual property and credit any future publication on this topic to t_y's CN Journal paper.

My reply in Numiscanada:

I am appalled that Castor did not mention that all the information published in this post is the result of my research.

I am appalled that he published without contacting me.

Numismatics for me is a hobby, not a livelihood. I do it for fun. I did not had fun today.

Hi SPP Ottawa

You said:

"I read the post on October 8 Numicanada"

You have not read the beginning of the message and its explications dated:

$ 2 Germany vs MRC

Fri, January 18, 2013 8:25 pm

It was not in October 2013 as you said.

I hope the next time you read the beginning of any message
