1st attempt at 3D manufacturing. It's sort of successful.

The idea was to have a holder where I could move the coin around w/o sliding it on the surface to center, plus something that would be easy to crop out the background w/ a wizard tool.

This was the model: Coin-Ring---Photo-Aid---Arrived

And here is the result:
Coin-Ring---Photo-Aid---Arrived

I think I need to make the voids a little bigger - the idea was to be able to grab the coin by the side (wearing gloves). The other goal was to be able to easily crop out the background with a wizard tool, that's going to be dependent on better lighting, etc.

But here is how a raw shot will sort of look:
Coin-Ring---Photo-Aid---Arrived

I designed it through Adobe's 123D and used their partner Shapeways. It cost $10.75, total under $20 including shipping & tax from California.

Next time I'll try other options - I basically grew to hate 123D.
