I was at a coin shop today and was looking through some pennies when I seen something silver in with the 1960's pennies. I took it out and it was a 1960 penny but it was all silver! I thought "Really! trying to sell a spray painted penny are we....LOL

SO, I go to scrape off some of the paint and this is what I see!

I even took the coin put it on its side and scraped it and it was also silver, very soft scratches easily.

So, Do I have something here or am I just Dreaming and should wake up! loljavascript:insertsmilie('')

First off, stop scratching it.If it is a wrong metal error you are destroying value.Weight it and measure the diameter.

Years ago I had an American penny that had the same look to it as what your pictures show. I, too, thought that I had a treasure until I scraped a tiny bit of the coating from the rim and saw the fresh gleam of copper beneath. The "silver" was quite soft and easy to remove, so I guessed it was just someone goofing around with a soldering gun.
