What would be a fair price on a AU details 1860 dollar? Numismedia has price at $276 for AU50.

Just trying to get a sense of how the details grade would affect value. It would be graded as details for reverse damage which doesn't appear distracting.

thanks!
Rest in Peace

I'd say bullion value plus about 25%.
Right now that would work out to be about $80.

It would depend on how severe the damage is. Can you post a picture of the reverse?
If it still retains ample, unimpaired luster and the damage is minor, than a little more than spot + 25% IMO.

Forget the Numismedia price of $276 right off the bat. Details graded coins are all over the price map depending on a half a dozen different factors one of which is rarity.

Check out this piece that sold a couple years ago on Teletrade for $120: http://www.teletrade.com/coins/lot....188&lot=4619 If the coin in question is similar, I would expect it to be worth a similar amount today.
