Hello, I came across this just looking though pennies, and noticed the flaw right away. Could it be possible this was supposed to be an S mint then was stamped over as a D mint? if it was a D/D I dont think it would have that curve underneath the D as shown in the image. Also the L in Liberty is somewhat strange, looks double stamped zoomed in with a curve on the bottom and on the back there seems to be a ware, could this be ware from age or the press? It read Pluribus Unum and is missing the "E" in front. What the heck is goin on here? lol :) Is it like a small over large type? Also please excuse my images all I have is my cell phone.

My guess would be gas bubbles between the zinc and copper plating, making it appear to have another MM. But let's wait for the pros. The REV looks like a grease struck die.

to CCF. MM has zinc rot and the reverse is either Struck Through Grease or over abraded die, common for that year.

to the CCF.

Concur with the explanations given above ...all of the 'issues' you are seeing with this coin are considered normal mint processes.

Good eyes though ... hoping you continue to search coins and share your findings.

Thanks everyone, not spectacular obviously but it was definitely exciting to finally find something different for my first time. Here in Wisconsin we get mostly Denver mints. I'm realizing that D mint errors are extremely hard to find, currently on the hunt for close/wide AM's. I keep forgetting what the rare ones are for 1998 - 2000 tho..? lol Has a Close or wide rare AM been found in a D mint? ONE more question since I'm a noob here.. Can you get rolls of pennies from the bank from different years or are they all new coins?

I get about 8-10 boxes a couple times a year from my bank and you get what you get. You can not ask for new or not.Look here about WAM's http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/...arieties.htm

Yes the 1992 D CAM. Any WAM errors would have to be from 1993 to 96. 1997 and later Denver has opperated their own die shop using master hubs from Philly. So after 1996 the only way Denver could produce a WAM error would be if Philly shipped them a rev master hub for proof dies. If that happened EVERY D cent that year would be a WAM cent.
