Hello to all and thank you for having this great forum/site. I started to ask this question hours and hours ago but this greatly interesting forum has been a distraction and I mean that in a good way. My question - Why the difference on these two 1958 D Lincoln pennies and could the difference be a good thing? I would appreciate any help or advice, Thank you, cil

If you are referring to just the color, Cents go through basically three stages... Red (new), Red Brown (your first coin), then Brown (Your last coin). Nothing out of the ordinary. Just what they have been through and the elements exposed to etc. I suppose I should add green in there for corrosion affected coins :)

I guess what I meant to ask is why Lincoln looks so different and the type style appears to be different? Thanks, Cil

One has undergone a more significant amount of circulation. Nothing wrong here. But hey, it pays to stay curious! Believe me!

The finger prints with salt and contaminants remove the surface turning it brown. Circulation also cause coin wear reducing the devices. Die wear also affects coins struck as the die ages, the devices are not as fresh as when the die was new.
