NO not at all basically the rolls are always searched and you will never make out that well you are better of just buying single coins or small lots then buying rolls just a waste of your money !!

I bought rolls from other sites: auction and dealer. I could fill some of my album, but eventually had to buy specific dates.

Unsearched rolls are a scam, and recommending on "good luck" (i.e. an isolated good experience that is unlikely to be repeated) is irresponsible!
Just make friends with your local banks and keep your ears to the ground. You'll have much better luck. I've gotten assortments of world coins (for free) from banks that not even the most haphazard unsearched-roller could dream of, and if I want old coins, I look through bins of them at a coin store.

I have bought the large lots out there on ebay - largest possible - and gotten them much cheaper than by the roll. I just lowball the price and win one every now and then. I was able to put together 90% of a buffalo collection this way and I would sell the rest for a small profit by the roll. I then used some of my winnings to buy a few of the key dates I needed. I am either 2 or 3 coins short of complete excluding the 3-legged. I only bought a few. I was shocked at what I found in some cases. But I went through 10000 or more buffs I wouldn't bother w rolls.

i think I bought 2 on this page and found the rest. The other 2 pages of the book are complete. I have ZERO cost in this folder as selling what I bought for more than I paid for it made me money to buy the few rarer dates. Now some of these are just AG/G/VG, but its still an almost complete set I put together mostly from searching as opposed to buying. it took a lot of work.

Sort of. I found one that was painted like a hobo nickel. It was about 3 years ago that I did the searching, but I don't think I found a true hobo nickel.

No - more like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LOT-OF-1000...em565b9d2e2cexcept I used to only pay like 30 cents/coin or so for them and then turn around and sell them for 50-65 cents each on ebay and cherry picked the better ones out and sold them on craigslist for !, 2 or 3 or more dollars. and then kept the best ones and continually updated my collection or filled holes in the album. it was a lot of work and I got some good lots and some bad ones. the key is being patient and not overpaying. try to find large lots from people that aren't professional coin dealers or semi-professional. you can legitimately get something thats sat in a basement - if you believe the story. also - check craigslist. sometimes you get people that have no idea what to do with the buffs. on the other hand, some times they want an arm and a leg for common ones. its all about being persistent and being patient and being willing to do a lot of work. but hey - its fun.

Oh yeah, I would a lot rather sort through them. I have actually done this with "unsearched" rolls before. I don't buy many, but I found some that were good lots. I would always lowball my bid to what the coins on the outsides were worth. I actually won a few, and one, I sold the silver out of and made my money back quick. I would overall stay away from these, but it is possible for you to find good coins out of them. Before I bid on the roll however, I read page after page of feedback to make sure I wouldn't get ripped off.

agreed on the unsearched rolls. I rarely even bid on them because people jack the prices up so high. I can't figure out where these crazy bidders are when I post something. its all about low-balling. you might only win 1 out of 100, but sometimes it works and at least you can get your money back if it doesn't work out.

My favorite phrase is "you do not get all the coins in the picture". Then why in the heck put the picture up? I've always detested this form of false advertising in all business.
I once worked for a tire store that had a big sign out front, "Recaps only $6.49" and in mice type below said it was for 13" tires, only the Honda car used them back then. I couldn't count the times people would drive up in their Impala and want a set of $6.49 recaps. I'd then have to go through the whole "that's for 13" tires, you need 15" and they're $19.95" speech. I hated doing that and most customers drove off POed never to ever return.
I never went to business school so they must teach advertising deception there but I've always been of the mindset that honesty up front will always prevail, if it doesn't at least you can sleep at night.
