Very informative video! Definitley worth watching the whole thing. I think new collectors will find this extremely valuable, although everyone should watch it. Thanks for sharing! Are the second two segments online as well?

I dont think theyve done one for the other classes yet. They just did this one on friday though it did sound like they had plans to do more in the future. I hope they end up doing one for all the classes they have though.

That one morgan and Buffalo nickel they showed were insanely nice

Thanks for posting this, basebal21. I am a PCGS member, but they did not notify me that this is available.

It was well worth the time to watch it.

The only thing that I don't understand is how they say they take strike into account, but with certain series they clearly ignore it. Namely, look at the grades on 1921 Peace dollars. Notoriously weak strikes and most of the higher grades are struck very poorly. Moreover, a weak strike for a 21 peace greatly affects the appearance of the coin. The video is informative, but the strike part of it surprised me.

It was such a small part of it I think youre right they do ignore it to some extent. My take away from it and just experience with them is if a strike in that middle acceptable range they do just kind of ignore it except for borderline coins, but if the strike is very good or very bad then they factor it in more.

With the Peace dollars their is the argument that if the majority of them have a weak strike that thats the norm with the fully struck ones being exceptional instead of the standard. I dont know if thats their position or not just kind of playing devils advocate with that one.

I think you are right. The baseline for the Peace dollar, particularly the 1921, is an awful strike so they don't really dock most coins. Selfishly, I have a 21 Peace with a well above average strike and would love to see it bumped up a few points based on its strike, but I doubt I will have it graded so I should probably quit whining.

Thank you baseball 21 a very informative video for a noobie like myself. It clarified a lot for me! I look forward to the others with great anticipation! I wish they'd consider doing an online course, as I'm for small town in Canada and don't have any coin resources near me. I also rarely travel, so wouldn't be able to attend a live course. He makes it very easy to understand. This is why I love this forum so much. I have broadened my depth of knowledge so fast, by all I've read here the past yr. however, I still consider myself a newbie. Keep this valuable info coming !

Its possible it could with the slack they give that one. Maybe not a few points but I wouldnt be shocked by 1 or maybe 2 grades.

I wish theyd do a full course online too. I guess the concern might be someone recording it and putting it out there for free but hopefully one day they do
