Im sure I'm not the first to notice, But it seems like there are so many off center struck coins dated 1983. Whether it be cents, nickels, quarters. This seems to be a very common date for off center strikes. What was going on at the mint? I know there were no mint sets issued for that year, as well as 1982. Aside from the Souvenir sets issued by the Philly and Denver Mint.

I have seen/purchased many off center struck coins. For myself, and clients. A majority of them are dated 1983 and they were all nickels, cents, and quarters. But rarely any dimes. (That I can recall)

Is there something I missed? or am I the only one who's concerned over the mints lack of quality control specifically in 1983....

Their QC 30 years ago doesn't bug me one bit. Seems there's always an off-year. I'm suprised @ the price of 25c O/Cs for that year.

Yeah the Quarter OC's can get pricey. But they are generally in high grades, which people pay a premium for since 1983-P Quarters Book at over $20 in Uncirculated. Plus a premium on the error
Rest in Peace

Wait , you do you mean 1983 coins?
Correct you do mean1983 coins.
Some members have mentioned to keep all 1983 BU cents because of the change in composition/ and variety.

The 1999-P cents has a lot of broadstruck coins as well. But they are only plentiful if you have several examples. The truth be known, they are not in most cases, unless you have several. So it is subjective.

1983 Cents have many clashed dies, counter clashed dies and strong over polishings. Probably having the first full year of Zincolns had something to do with it. They probably found out the caused and fixed in 1984. (My own opinion)

I've found several 1983 cents with a Cud at the bottom too.
