Ha....ha.....I do that ALL the time whenever I get change. And your right, I always get odd (dirty) looks, like I don't trust the cashier and am carefully counting my change.

If you want to get a really weird look, say something like this after they give you the dirty look. "Excuse me, there's something wrong here.....pause......does it look like this nickel has a lamination error?" They will think you are crazy.

Yep, the same here. Then I tell them I thought it was just gas, and that I forgot to wear my diaper this morning.

Or, "WOW! The rare Queen Liz with her 'royalty' showing. How can I ever thank you folks?" That will totally confuse them. Even better, mutter to yourself, "Judge Wapner at 4, Judge Wapner at 4." [From 'Rainman'] "You looking at me? You looking at ME?" Then sing, "Every time it rains it rains ... pennies from heaven." Sorry, I forgot you folks got rid of the one cent piece. Coins are wonderful in so many different ways.

They shouldn't have a tip cup at all if that's how they treat a customer. I look at my change all the time before I put it in my pocket. if they don't like it that's too bad. next time let them know that they gave you too much back and take your bagel and walk away. that way they will be more concerned about what they should be doing at their job and not what you are doing in your spare time. LOL

If I can see the till I will be looking in it and get funny looks and then when I ask to see a certain coin they give you that look again.

Oh! my gawd. There must be a trillion or so coin collectors out there. I always wondered why there were so many slow line-ups at the Timmy drive-thrus. It sure ain't because of the coffee.

I always look at my change, and get weird looks when I make oh-oh-oh noises when I find a goodie.

I scan my change all the time. And yes, I sometimes get mean looks from the cashiers. I now just hold onto the change if I can until I am out of sight. I can still remember the time I got 3 BER 2003 notes back in 2004 in a month from the same store. Cashier thought I was going to faint from the look on my face.
