Very nice coins!

Are these circulating (or circulated) coins, or just for collector items?

Technically they were circulation coins, but they rarely circulated. If they were used it was only a matter of time before they ended up in someones sock drawer. They were too big and heavy to lug around and it wasn't until they introduced the loon dollar in 1987 that dollar coins became popular and heavily circulated.
