Looking at a large car repair bill and will likely be forced to spend a very large chunk of my pre-95 bills on it, most of them I'm sorta okay with spending, but I'm hoping that others won't have to go...

$1080 face in series 1974-1995 bills, a large number of the $10s are crisp 74 and 77 series.

All is not lost; perhaps you could start a collection of car repair invoices!

I know all about that! I have a 30 year old classic Mercedes car, and I have collected and recorded every invoice to the money I have spent on that car over the last 13 years, in a scrapbook that is now 1 1/2 inches thick!

My CCF forum name alludes to the number plate on my car.
I will leave you to guess what model of Mercedes that it is.

With a few exceptions I don't think FRN's merit collecting IF you are thinking about them growing in value.
Exceptions:
-- star notes
-- error notes
-- $1 notes

Let me explain that last exception.
IF the Gov't ever gets around to being serious about $1 coins circulating the $1 bills will have to go.
There could easily be a rush to collect them in that case.
Demand goes up; so would collectable value -- for CU notes.

i would keep the nicest example of each denomination for $5-$20 and spend all the $50 / $100 as well as all the rest.

I feel your pain, I recently had to spend part of my pre 95 collection on a vet bill for my pup. It sucks but sometimes you just got to do it.

Looks just like regular foldin money to me. Not even in holders, just layin there one on top of the other. Probably not a good way to keep a collection of any value.
Do what you have to do, I'm sure you wont have any problem replacing it .

The $50s and $100s are premium-less, so spend em. Save some CU $10s and $20s, and just spend all the rest.

Is there a 1977A Morton-Miller $10 in that bunch?
