September release - Superman release - 100 for 100 release - October release : In a short period of time, lots of release and it seems the October one will pay for this overload of new coins, except for the Piedfor...

I would agree, too many must have coins in a short span of time, and finite resources. A collector has to be extra discerning, as to what purchases to make. It's a guess as too which coin, will sell on after market for less. I have changed my mind and orders several times trying to decide. Currently I will need to skip future releases, just to balance the budget. It was better when it was quarterly releases. More time to receive and enjoy the coins prior too next release. It was less financially stressful too!

Yes, it's almost enough to force us to narrow the focus of our collection going forward!

Over five months have passed since I started this poll https://goccf.com/t/150094 relating to this topic, so I think it's time to see what you folks think now. I've brought it back up to the top. Narrowing our focus is a good thing.
I guess the $100 for $100 tailors to a crowd that splashes around $100 on one coin per month. They are NICE, though. The engravers actually did a tremendous job on those.

I agree that the RCM is putting out a pile of coins. One has to be selective as to which coins they put in their own collection. You hope to pick the ones that will have continued appreciation, but there are always the odd ones that you get just because you really like the coin. If you are able to get a coin that has both of these attributes,it is a bonus. I for one would like to see quality come before quantity, pocketchange50 sums it up about right! A little more breathing room between releases would go a long way!

I was fine with 4 (seasonal) releases a year. This monthly release has watered down what I want, and what I can afford. You really have to be selective on a limited budget - for actually collecting coins.

First, you will buy the coin that you like... and after - "appreciation". Btw, appreciation by whom? Actually, here many factors: Beauty (this personal), importance of commemorated event/personality/item, and the others like coin characteristics and initial price.

For me, the monthly release almost kill the interest in collecting coins... I have so much to do in my own life, getting involved in a monthly basis is getting boring in the long term... There's so much coins and theme to follow, and I'm curious to know if someone here can tell what was the january coins that were release this year... Even on the RCM site you cannot follow this because lot's of coins almost sell out... In a couple years, almost 80% of the coin that were release will be sold less then the retail price on the second market...

They wont stop producing coins monthly now unless they start losing money and even then since its a Canadian Corporation they can lose money for quite a while before they will change something lol. Get use to it and just buy what you like and can afford, that is all you can do, or get out of coin collecting all together.. unless your a flipper then well you spend your money and take your chances...

Quote: I'm curious to know if someone here can tell what was the January coins that were release this year. The RCM's January release is typically the release when its traditional coins and sets are released. For example, the annual commemorative silver dollar and commemorative gold $100 coins are released each January as are the Specimen and various Uncirculated sets. This year, I think the O' Canada series was launched as well. I'm sure there were a few others, but that's what I remember â€" I only purchased the silver dollar and silver dollar proof set.
