I got the same email, but it didn't mention if it is GST/HST exempt.... With the bronze coin in the set, my guess is people will have to pay tax... may not be such a good deal after all (that is what I tell myself).

Would it be breaking the rules to post a screen capture of the email?
I mean, the coins themselves are not new. We know what they look like. All the new info would be the price and a description on what the box will look like. (not an image of the box) (of course Falcon already said the price and mentioned the wood box)

Special Features: Coins are encapsulated and presented in a red lacquered wooden box and black beauty box. Each coin showcases different coin finishes, each with a separate degree of luster for a striking appearance. The base of the image is decorated with a garland composed of more than 25 species of Canadian leaves. Mintage: 1,200 sets world wide. I am not buying the set, even when I don't have to pay for the tax...... My main reason is lack of funding and this is just a repackaging scheme by RCM.

Interesting. Buy all three at issue price and get a free box. But if it's taxable, then that becomes an expensive box....
If they were to structure the sale as the gold and silver as separate items and the bronze by itself, you might be able to avoid tax on the PM. But I doubt the Mint thought of that. I guess we'll see whenever one of you orders it.
As for can you show it here, well it's not even on the website and there is really nothing new in the e-mail. Just a picture of the three coins (not the box). Nothing really to see. They do say it's limited to 1200 sets but since there are 2000 Au coins, that's really just 1200 boxes.

SoB..I have the "set" bought all 3 when they came out, do I get a box? They must have 1200 gold coins left....was hoping they wouldnt sell many more lol, then mine would be from a lesser mintage, so now they are repackaging it...argh..lol I will be calling them looking for my "box'.... may not get me anywhere but I will be hassling them...

Quote: .I have the "set" bought all 3 when they came out, do I get a box? That's painfull, Northerncoins..... I wish, that they will understand your request and will send the box to you. For this, hope, that you bought all of them from RCM.

I agree with Silveroid! Northerncoins, you deserve to get the box with no cost or strings attached. And so should any one else who purchased all three coins from the mint. Ultimately, this is just another example of the mint's shoddy treatment of its loyal customers. Just because they haven't been able to sell too many of these coins, particularly the gold ones, they opted for a free box marketing strategy to try and move them along. I'm not impressed.

It's a bit strange ...
It's called desperation and could be a bad precedent.

Here's what I posted on the "other" forum in response to the general dissatisfaction expressed by many over this" Quote:
If I ordered the gold, I would be upset.... I didn't order the bronze (brass), silver or gold and I'm upset! This is the mint's special way of treating its loyal customers. I can hear the marketing execs at the meeting... "These coins haven't moved at all. We've only sold 700 of the 2,000 gold. I know, let's stick all three in a box and sell them as a limited edition set ... Only 1,200 sets! Brilliant J.B! Wait! What about those who already bought all three?" Guffaws all round!

This is a great idea if the RCM did this from the start. I remember suggesting a gold, silver, and bronze set in a box. Too bad it's not sold out.
