I found this in my neighbors stash of wheats that have been in his safe for over 30 years. Get to look through all his old silver next, lucky me.

i don't know how they punched mint marks on coins but this looks like a legit mint mark to me. Does not look to be tampered with in any way. It's so dirty its hard to get a good closeup look. If it is legit, what do I do with it?

has anyone seen anything like it before on any denomination.?

Please advise.

Thanks for looking.

really, I've never seen anything like it before.
oh well. it was still cool to find, hoping it was an error,
but the search must go on.

didn't really know what a counterstamp was til now.
read some details, now I get it.

It looks like a D MM with a halo around it.

Looks more like a washer might have stained it.
