Hello.
I want to show the currency of Bolivia, Potosi minted in the year 1872.
The picture shows the coat of Bolivia and on the front the value: 1 Boliviano the symbol of the mint of Potosi, the legend "The union is strength" assayer initials "FE" corresponds to the tester: Fortunato Equivar.
Weight: 25 gr
Diameter: 35 millimeters

I visited Bolivia a couple years ago....trip was Chile, Bolivia and Peru Bolivia was defiantly my favorite by far. I saved a whole bunch of there currency. I like it.

Nice boliviano! That bolivianos coins were in currency in Argentina since 1864, large quantities of bolivianos were introduced as trade legally and illegaly from Bolivia during the late s. XX, so the bolivianos was commonly seen in markets to 30 yaears ago, but now if well available in numismarket, it become lately scarse issue, collectors would pay 40 u$D to 50 Us dollars around the place, the same as a common phila Morgan dollar.

There were some patterns of this issue made (I guess in the 1870s) by B.H. Mayer, a private minting company in Pforzheim, Germany. When I visited the company about 15 years ago, they showed me one of these "pruebas" they still had in their company vaults!

Unfortunately, the company has since changed ownership and location, I do not know what became of these treasures...
