Hi Can anyone tell me how to remove varathane off this nickel my Dad put on it years and years ago..?..you can see bubbles on the right side of the 9..thanks  Edited by wert 10/03/2013 8:51 pm

Get the 100% acetone from a hardware store.

I guess that the Varathane has protected the coin, to stop it from toning. I have mucked around with acrylic lacquer sprayed on, to to the same thing. The coin seems to be completely unaffected after 40 years.

Probably more that 60 to 70 years sel_69l..interesting to see what it looks like after the acetone bath.?

mcshilling...Thanks for that info on acetone..worked great..see before and after...lots of toning on the coin now, that I could not see before...Before on left and after on the right.
