It's a nice coin however I'm surprised that it's graded MS64.

It has a big black streak, a scratch and tiny gouges on the obv and tiny gouges on the rev.

What does MS64 really mean ?

Per PCGS

Quote:
MS/PR-64 Few marks/hairlines or a couple of severe ones, strike should be average or above

thanks roony but I said PCGS not ngc
compare the 2 coins and you will see why PCGS has a reputation for being harsher on coins.

I suppose the TPG is only of interest to those who collect that way. What is the world market for this coin in a slab - do most collectors of this coin prefer them raw, and other such questions need to be considered first. I collect these type of coins and will happily pay over the odds for them - but I wouldn't touch one that was slabbed as, to me, you are paying way too much over the odds.

But I realise that other opinions are available :)
