The latest Coin World gives the following from the coin grading services as to what they will call the Satin Finish coins;
ICG-SP(Specimen) and will grade them SP-67 (or whatever) and will add the term Satin Finish.
NGC-SMS(Special Mint Set) and will grade them MS-67 (or...) and will add the term PL (Proof Like) and may have a * for superior eye appeal.
ANACS-SMS(Special Mint Set) and will grade them MS-67 (or...).
PCGS-Undecided but will probably grade them MS with a SF for Satin Finish.
ASA-Accugrade-MS grading with the term Satin Finish.
PCI-SMS(Special Mint Set) and will graade them MS-67 (or...).
SEGS-MS grading with the term Satin Finish.
NTC-SMS(Special Mint Set) and will graade them MS-67 (or...).
Also in the article it was pointed out that some of the coins have very weak Satin Finish and Coins World is investigating to see if the finish degrades with the number of strikes on the die.
Rest in Peace

Thanks for the post miker. Seems we'll be calling them lots of different things! The part about the die degredation is interesting. As they wear they may produce coins that look more like regular business strikes?Yikes![:0] Mike

I am still saying we all will be looking back some day at the prices they are paying for those first Satin Finish coins from 2005 wondering WHY we didn't buy more of them. They will be the lowest produced coins of 2005 and one must remember this is the FIRST year a full set has been produced. Will I be right or wrong? Time will surely tell!

Just cant wait for that DSFSMS70 To Hit the market !! (Deep satin finish special mint set)

Seriously did anyone think that the dies would not show signs of wear after several thousand coins ? with that said, to keep the dies frosted by the bead blast, will also degrade the details quite rapidly.
