The luster for mint state coins, as is the case with most of the early Buffalos, is a satin grey.

Circulation, of course, reveals the congealed acid trips that compose up to 7% of the alloy.

There appears to be enough of the date left that you could acid treat it to get more definition if you wanted to but you would loose the coloring in that area.

Sure wouldn't want to "loose" that coloring...

It would be a pain to put it back in the oven

Cleaned to bright with non abrasive metal polish, then gently heated to achieve the multi coloured tone.

I have had fun doing this when bored, only I just release them back into circulation for the curiosity of others.
Uncirculated copper nickel coins look hilarious when heated to red heat, then dropped into water. Sometimes the checkout chicks won't even accept them!

Horsefeathers. It's already been treated.

Look at the "Detailed Item Info" by David Hall that he includes in the listing. Can he do that? It almost appears that THAT is his description. Very deceiving...and already up to $75.
