I have no idea as to whether this coin is Chinese or not, or even if it is authentic. But I would appreciate any guesses as to the identity of my coin (or what it may be imitating). Thanks!
Yes indeed. The design is that of a "huo quan" cash of usurper emperor Wang Mang, circa AD 14. Gil-galad posted one in this thread. These zeno.ru pages have numerous examples of the type.
Genuine huo quan coins aren't too expensive - I bought one for just a few dollars some years ago - but for the authenticity of yours, I'm a little worried about the height and roundness of the rims and the generally "thin" appearance of the patina. I'd want to know why an allegedly 2000 year old copper coin isn't solid crusty green.

Sap- Thanks for the input. And, yeah, I'm even more suspicious of this coin. Since the rim does not look right at all, and it doesn't seem quite cast-like enough, so I do think that it is a reproduction.
