Hi,

Recently bought four of these coins at auction. They all weigh 18 grams and measure 38mm across.

Writing is the same on one side of the coin for all and differs on the side where a woman's head is struck. A different head on every coin. They seem to be in circulated condition

Anyone have any idea where they from, time period and what metal? Thanks

They are not coins. They are "fantasy dollars", coin-like medals commemorating famous people from Chinese history or mythology. You can get them in sets featuring the ten Qing Emperors, the Eight Immortals, etc. In this case, the people commemorated are the Four Beauties of Ancient China. This old thread has one of your medals; the person depicted on it is Yang Guifei. The woman on the other piece is Wang Zhaojun.

If they came in a set of four, the other two you have are presumably the other two "Beauties", Xi Shi and Diaochan.

As for time period and metal, they are some sort of base metal - typically some sort of nickel-brass. They have been made more or less continuously since the 1960s, with die-work varying from pretty good to atrocious.
