Hi guys. After a few days sifting through coins I am getting a little better at the id side of things but this one has me stumped. It's 20mm max diameter, weight is 5.02 grams.
I could clean this coin up quite well, without going too far but if the experts here can id it as it is I will leave well alone as it's something a little different (for my collection anyway). Is it a provincial?

I am itching to find out what this one is lol. I have really tried with this one, it's thrown me a little with having a reverse that I have not had before.

Thanks in advance guys.

Its a 3 standards reverse from Bithynia, Nicaea. Pretty common type in the grand scheme but this one has a nice green colour. Looks like Gordian to me. If you dont intend to keep it then I suggest leaving it as is. The green patina is a popular one and easy to ruin (olive oil darkens it quicker than you'd think).

Obv: M ANT GORDIANOC AVG, radiate, draped bust right.
Rev: N-I-K-AI-EWN between and beneath three standards.

Very nice. I always assume dimples = provincial. Just check that the really bright green spots are not active BD.

Not sure about the 'Gordo' attribution. Nice portrait style and a very handsome young fellow. I lean toward 'Alex' Severus

At a glance I also think it looks more like Sev Alexander than Gordian III.

I can just make out part of the legend to make me believe that it's Severus Alexander (CEV ALEZA in Greek.
