I wanted to register for online auctions but discovered that you need to put in a dealer as a reference. I didn't think they would accept ebay so took myself off to the only dealer nearby intending to pick up a coin for about £20 to get myself on the database and thence to the auction rooms.

Well it ended up costing me A LOT but I am very pleased with what I got:

A better Florian GF than the one I already have...

The VERY expensive Marius...VF

An egyptian? Valerian tetradrachm with Zeuse on the reverse...

Whilst I was there, I got them to weigh the Valerian in their super dooper machine and it came out at 10g. I weighed the same coin on my "scales" and it came to 6.49g, I had been a bit suspicious of them and ordered a calibration weight a few weeks ago, only to find it is wending its way from China. When it gets here I will take it to a local jeweller and weigh the weight before I calibrate my scales. Then I will have to re-weigh all my coins!

So now I can register with the auction houses, but can't afford to put any bids on! Thanks TIF!

Excellent coins. Can't believe you found a Marius, that's an emperor that I have wanted for years. Congrats!

Marius is a tricky one. I'm sure hes much rarer than ERIC suggests.

Zeus is lovely. Wildwinds indicates that it is billon. It feels better than other billon coins that I have. I will take my time attributing it fully. It feels really nice in hand.
