Poll Question
I have almost 200 spare wheat pennies that are all CRH finds. What I do is I keep the best condition of every year\mintmark combo in my regular collection and I keep all the duplicates in a box. They're all varying circulated condition, mostly 40s and 50s, a bunch of 30s, and a couple 10s and 20s. I think there's an S mint or two in there also. I've been contemplating what to do with them. If I keep them, I'll be able to pass them down to my kids and give them an interest in coin collecting. If I sell them I might take a few dollars. I also might let them out in circulation so another collector can enjoy them more before the Wheat cent is gone. What do you think? I hope I set up the poll alright...

I'm a hoarder, so I say keep all of them! You could always donate them to the kids at the CCF events at the shows the Community is hosting.

I voted keep, but whatever you do, don't dump them!

Voted keep, and I guess most people will.. However, if you were to decide to sell, I'd take anything pre-50's..getting a bunch of them here..and I've told my kids that anything left after I'm gone, can't be sold for 50 years even if it means they hand it down.. not making any more of these so it's a safe bet..

Keep! And, if you think about it, 200 penny is equivalent to... $2.00.

Keep and organize into decades. I actually even separate the S mint marks out and roll them separately. It's fascinating how many wheats I have from certain decades that I didn't even know I had before I sorted them and rolled them up.

I'd probably hold them until the roll price hit $20.

If you dump them, there is the chance of getting ruined. If you really wanted to donate them, give them to some beginning coin collectors like was said above.

Definitely keeping them now! The penny will be canceled soon. Jbuck had an idea on my previous topic called: What if the penny was discontinued? His idea was to organize everyone to find the last wheat pennies in circulation before the government inevitably cancels them, called the Cent Reclamation Movement, or CRM.
We need to save the last antique cents! Join the CRM and join us in rescuing wheats and IHPs before Obama finishes the cent.

True. There should have never been a question on the wheat cents. Keep them! (The poll seems to confirm this). Selling them now will not net much and dumping them risks their ending up in a melting pot.
I think most would agree to also keep all pre-1982 95% copper cents, but I say save them for future collectors, not for melting.
