Hi there from the U.K. I see this 1 Troy ounce in the window of a local antique shop/coin dealer I have heard of JM Bullion before but not sure what the CKDA and I know the royal bank is the bank of Canada. Any ideas its a bit discoloured but would you cut it out of the plastic clean it and place it in a capsule holder ? I picked this up for about £21 which is good but when I got home and looked it says on the net that it's a limited edition and rare ? Any ideas have you seen one of these I have looked on ebay and they are going for about 140 dollars. Any info on this bar would be great

Nice normal bar--that's it----certainly no premium to bullion.

Well the RBC is not the Bank of Canada. One is a national bank, the other is the central bank of Canada. You'll also find J&M bars with other Canadian banks like TD (Toronto Dominion).

Lambecolin, I would have to disagree. These JM Royal Bank silver bars carry a pretty hefty premium especially on ebay or to collectors. I would say the average price for one of these on ebay is around $75 which is over three times spot. As for the deciding to clean the bar or not...Its really the personal preference of the buyer. I am a big collector of Johnson Matthey bars myself and I tend to prefer keeping them inside the original mint seal whether they are toned or not.

There was a radio station in Victoria, B.C. with callsign CKDA. Perhaps the bar may have been a contest prize or promotional item? Just guessing. The station went off the air in 1995.

It's best to leave it in the original packaging. Collectors normally like things in orginal condition and not mess with. It will bring more with resale value if everything still in original.

The 1 oz is readily available but still bring good premium. The rare ones are fractional and those are seldom seen.

Nice bar - if I saw that at my LCS/bullion shop, I would snatch all of them up!
