I am fast approaching my 500th post. With my sense of humor (or lack there of), I guess I will be th "Piler of the Community"

. Sure surprised I have lasted this long, Mom and Dad have a lot of patients.
Anyway, this will be a two part contest, but should not be very hard. I will be adding an avatar (for the first time) of my favorite coin.
1. Guess what it is. (Remember, I have basically been a fan of U.S. coins, but I am feeling the pull to the Darkside.

2. As a young man, I fished many summers in Canada. In the evenings we would set around the campfire with many good Canadian friends and would share what they called "spits". What are they?
I have assembled a small pile of coins over the last couple of months anticipating this and they will be the prize. They include a 1960 proof / small date
Lincoln Cent. a 1909 VBD Lincoln, A 1908 D
Barber dime and a 1876 CC Seated Lib dime. (probably rubbed with a jewelers cloth but in very good shape) A 1602 Sixpence Commemorative I picked up in Jamestown. Some misc. foreign coins I have accumulated and what ever else I think of while this is going on. Oh, yea, and a nice 1955 Lincoln "poor man's
DDO.
Guess away but be quick. I think this will be over fast. If I need to I will give clues later on.
Thanks to everyone on the forum for being great.
Jim
1st Update - Mila-cent has it right with a specific coin. If your guess is a world coin, you should specify like the guys from up North did with the 1967 10 cent / fish idea. Remember, you need to answer both parts of the contest to win. No one has the coin, but one person has "spits" correct. Who is it? The first person to double up is the winner. Yes, there are clues all over, you must figure out which are real and which are misleading.
2nd Update - Ok, guys. Ya gotta quit fishin and I have never posted a pic of this coin

. Many of you have got the "spits" answer. They use to bring them in 5 lb bags. I can only get them by the ounce here. And remember, it takes both answers, you have to double up to win.
ACTUALLY WE HAVE 4 WINNERS
CONGRATULATIONS TO NANCYC

Nancyc put together the right combinations of "sunflower seeds aka spits" and 1955
DDO Lincoln Cent. No one worked any harder for this one.
I am also sending out prizes for the correct individual guess on each part of the contest.
Chrycopaul got the Canadian "spits" question, naturally.
Spider5689 got very close with Lincoln cents and saw the clue of Lincoln cents in the prize list, even though the 1955
DDO Poor man's clue got by all of you.

And Graceoutcast got the 1955
DDO but got choked up on a cherry pit.

Thanks for letting me borrow the idea, Grace.
I will PM everyone to get mailing addresses.
Thanks, everyone for making my stay here on the forum so very special.
Jim
