Odyssey Marine which recovered the silver that was used to make these things skyrocketed today, because sales of these things have been so strong.

Give Merit a call and ask for purchase of one roll. I called and they allowed me to buy just one roll. I have rec'd them and the coins are nice. Amazing to look at it and think of the history. The silver sat for 72 years nearly 3 miles down at the bottom of the Atlantic, deeper than the Titanic.
Something I highly suspect is that the silver on the Gairsoppa was Pittman Act silver from 1918-19. Most of the silver from the Pittman Act silver dollar melt was sent to India for British coinage. This silver came from the Bombay branch of The Royal Mint.

I just called Merit Gold and was told my order had to be a minimum of $1,500.00 or more to order. Yes, you can buy 1 tube of these but regardless the order total needs to be over $1,500.00. Pass, .5 million-1 million will be made & should not be hard to find, if you give it some time...

Yea I think these coins are a straight up rip off.

Didn't they also make last year 1 oz ones with this same type silver?

Furthermore, these are 1/4 oz size,, for silver. That's not too common either. Just sounds like a marketing ploy.

I say look on ebay for one.

They called back again & tried simple salesman tactics & we went a few rounds enough to say never with these people! They will be available elsewhere (salesman tried to say no-BS) I am always leery of a site that makes you call in & not just make an internet order. Now I do know that I will never do business with this outfit! They even tried to lay California tax law on me but I think I know the law better than they do-just after their commission. I would only recommend to my worst enemy-Nazis & others that fit into that loathsome category!

Yea, I haven't read reviews about them but their ordering policy and marketing smacks of BS. There is nothing worse than being called constantly also.

I also think its stupid that they impose a minimum order. Granted, it is their biz and for the most part, if you are buying silver and gold, you can fork over 1,500+ no problem at all.

But that isn't everyone and I don't think you serve a wide audience either.

I do think you will find someone online selling these piece by piece.

Your experience reminds me of Westminster Mint in WI. You respond to their Ad, get a few coins and before you know it, they are using high pressure sales to up sell you all these coins, they want to ship you coins you don't want, then high pressure constant calls trying to up sell me graded coins, telling me why if they aren't graded they wont be worth nothing etc etc etc etc.

I would certainly avoid Merit Gold.
