Just came back from anacs with a stunning ms65 grade! I have been doing a lot of research and am finding that this coin is very scarce, I saw one that sold at heritage ms65, other than that one I am left in the dark..i looked it up on ngc price guide but it only goes up to ms63 grade....this having such a gorgeous tone really has me curious do you all agree with the grade that was given? Would anybody advise doing a crossover to ngc or pcgs? I mainly buy classic american coins, world coins are a very unfamiliar territory for me.lots to learn!

I disagree with the MS65 grade.
Perhaps MS64. I would be too harsh to say MS63, but it would be closer to 63 than 65.

There are dings in the field behind the neck. Seems to be reasonably un marked elsewhere, however.
Not quite the sharpest of strikes. No wear in the beard or moustache, but I have seen sharper detail.

I can't see any hairlines, but they can be hard to find beneath toning, when grading from a picture. I will assume that this coin has no hairlines.
Very nice residual lustre beneath the toning.

The photo is low quality, I will get a high res pic up.ill try to set up the right lighting so that I can capture full details. the toning on the reverse is absolutely spectacular, gives it almost a cameo appearance.the hairlines are actually pretty sharp, ill will zoom in as much as I can.

I think MS-65 is reasonable.

awesome coin, here is a list of available coins from MA shops.

So I guess the price would be between 1500 to 2200+ ?

Here is another good online resource to research prices realized.
www.mcsearch.info

If this link works, it should list a good few Mecklenburg Strelitz
2 mark 1905's like yours:

http://www.mcsearch.info/search.htm...rt=&c=&a=&l=

A price in the range of $1100-1400 seems reasonable.
