Hi guys,
Putting aside the way I have 'cleaned' this (it was stuck to another coin and was almost half an inch thick in a solid red covering) - for me it had to be done, to show me what detail was there. I will be cleaning it completely now as it's staying with me anyway but believe me when I say the only other way to have cleaned this would have been with a jack hammer...

Anyway, anyone any ideas on this one? The obverse looks strange when turned, one angle it looks like a head, give it a quarter turn and it looks like letters above an object...

Looks like a very very poor barbarous copy. I have a byzantine copy that looks sort of like the top picture - head facing right, two things hanging behind.

And I've had coins which required very harsh cleaning. One was caked in some sort of clay and ended up less than half the thickness of when I started.
