I posted a coin with some gunk on it a month ago and you all were really quick at helping, pointing out what the gunk was. Thank you!

So, I'm asking again! See the photo below. On the obverse, south of the bust, there looks to be something like dirt on the rim. What do you think that stuff is?

This coin is super super lustrous and I actually wanted to TPG it so I could add it to my permanent collection. I know it's not worth the money, but I want my permanent collection in slabs and I think it has a chance to be highest grade known. But, how do you think this gunk will affect the number? Will it even get a number?

From the looks of it a nice bath might dislodge that stuff.
Start with distilled water soak and maybe give the area a LIGHT nudge with a Q-Tip.
If that doesn't do it step up to an acetone soak -- and keep the Q-Tip handy.
