The bonnet top coat interrupts the text. In quarter 1 and 4 of the weapon Palatinate (lion) and in quarters 2 and 3, the arms of Bavaria (diamonds). In the center crowned with a bonnet oval shield arm containing the perron of Liege. To this weapon shield in a cross shape four different coats of arms placed. These are the weapons of Loon (above), Franchimont (right), Horne (below) and Bouillon (left). The upper arm interrupts the text. Austrian Netherlands, Escalin/Schelling, 1750 Bruges mint. Petrus got one in from the Antwerp mint. The Schelling from the Bruges mint is less common and trades at some premium. Originally, the Bruges mint used a lily as its mintmark, but decided to take over the lion mintmark of the Ghent minting workshop after it closed down.  Edited by Gwyde

Grotty 1750 British Shilling - poor George looks worn out! These coins had to work hard for a living, as very few shillings were issued in the next reign!  Edited by NumisRob

Apologies to those of a sensitive disposition - you may prefer to look aside! This is my ONLY 1747 coin - it's a George II halfpenny that I retrieved from a junk tray sometime in my childhood - I have a feeling the dealer actually gave it to me free of charge. Perhaps a soldier used it as a button during the Napoleonic Wars?  Edited by NumisRob
