Quote: This happened to be one of those "right place at the right time" kind of purchases. The seller had a lot of Scottish coins and I picked up a few. I also have the 1695 and 1696 turners, and a couple of bawbees. I've always been fascinated with the Scottish coins, probably because I have a little bit of Scottish ancestry. The only 'scottish" coins I have are two well-worn crossraguel pennies. (google if intrested) But I do not really see them as scottish money because they are some kind of 'private money'. Here is the next date: 1692 4 kreuzer (Batzen) Salzburg mint Ruler : Bishop Johann Ernst von Thun und Hohenstein (1687-1709). Literatuur: Probszt 1855

1692 France, Écu aux 8 L of Louis XIV, Bordeaux mint, struck over an earlier type. I'll have to wait two decades to post my next crown.

1688-AG/A Tari Charles II of Spain Italian States (Naples) KM# 113 A bit banged up, but it's still a 1688. I picked it up a month or so ago as an "unknown Spanish coin". I love finding stuff like this and then trying to figure out what it is.

This Norway 2 Skilling is a special piece in my collection. It's the second year of minting at the Kongsberg mint. While it has the most common obverse style, the lion design on the shield is unique--at least the only die I've found in my research. The head treatment on the lion is different than all other die pairs I've seen. There's also a repunched 8
