Just in case someone is anxious to post their 1579 at midnight, please give EddieDiz a chance to post their previously mentioned 1580.

Mansfield was a small silver-mining area of Germany that was absorbed by Saxony in the 1700's and subsequently became part of Prussia.
Familiar 'rider' imagery shows Saint George the Dragon Slayer.
This is the eye-catching piece bought at a public sale some years ago that sparked my interest in early thalers and other large pre-industrialization dated silver coins.

There was a seller from Portugal who had it. I think it was labeled as an "unknown Dutch colonial coin" or something. I recognized it right away because of the similarity with the 12 Mijten.

Duiten.nl lists the mintage somewhere just over 12,800.

Here is a pair from the Spanish Siege of Maastricht between March 12-July 1, 1579. There were several denominations minted from a 1/2 Stuiver all the way up to 40 Stuivers. They were all minted in copper.

2 Stuivers:

1576 leeuwendaalder / lion daalder from the Dutch province of Holland, Dordrecht mint. These were hand made and typically exhibit areas of weak detail. This example is notable for a better obverse strike, particularly with the Knight's face.
