I have to ask. You say "DD"... that can be interpreted as a D/D, or maybe it was meant to mean
DDO or
DDR ?
By the way the pics are, I think you mean
DDO. Have you checked out
http://www.coppercoins.com yet? You can do a die variety search and it will assist you in learning about the markers of the coin and show pics of the coin in question.
I really don't see any signs of it being a Doubled Die (
DDO). Its tought to get lighting right sometimes, but it makes all the difference in the world, because it tells us a story.
What you might be seeing is
Machine Doubling, sort of like a fuzzy second set of letters, or part of the letter may be missing, or part of the letter is missing and what remains in flat on the surface of the coin. All of those are examples of
Machine Doubling.
ALSO - with ZINC pennies, sometimes the strike is soooo strong it will damage to cent and leave an impression on the coin, actually damaging the coin. It may have material ozzing from the damaged area as well. The damaged strike in most cases, seems to be near the rim side.
For it to be a
DDO, typically the letters and numbers are thicker and each letter and number affected will be at the same height.
