It's a decent date. Does this condition rise to having numismatic value? And if so, where is there a numismatic market for 1950s marks?

I would have to say it's XF at best. It's hard to judge these coins. By the time they have any real noticeable wear they are VF or lower. The difference for me between XF and AU is luster and the number of marks. I can't assess luster at all from the photos. I would tentatively say XF-40, but I don't have much confidence in my grade.

What I have gathered from watching these 1 Marks sell on ebay, is that even the nice ones typically go for less than half of their catalog values (sometimes a lot less). I've bought some more common dates in AU for 20% of their catalog prices in XF on several different occasions. But since it's a rarer date, I'm not sure exactly what it's worth (more than 5 dollars and less than 50 dollars, assuming it is XF).

As a junkbox pickup, I would be happy with a quarter of catalog. Alas, I have never joined ebay.

Marks are tough. Unless someone is collecting the range, mints and grades, collect-ability is limited. I would agree with above. Way lass than 50% book at the moment. Hard to see from the picture. XF.
