Just picked this up. It was almost unrecognizable in the 2x2. GREEN nasty all over it. Put it in acetone for a few hours and this is what I found:D

RIC44. Gallienus, AR Ant AD 258-259
O: GALLIENUS PF AVG, Radiate cuirassed bust rt.
Rx: VICT GERMANICA, Victory striding left stepping on captured enemy holding victory wreath & trophy

Came out nicely. Did you leave it in sunlight by any chance?

VICT GERMANIA is a very good one to have. Closest I've got is a PROFECTIO of an emperor heading off to a Germanic war.

Ben, no time in sunlight. Just acetone. I have it in olive oil now to see if it will help remove a little more green. Doubtful but don't think it will hurt.

The whole coin was green. I could just make out a rt facing radiate and took a chance. I was shocked by the great bust details when I pulled it out!

It is common with the coins of Gallienus, for the obverse die to be cut at a much higher standard then the reverse die.
