Went to a local coin show today and had a pretty good time.

I picked up this little guy for my Notable Historical Figures collection:

The rest are not ancient but here are the other doo-dads I got today.

Elizabeth I (1558 - 1603)

Obv: ELIZABETH D G ANG FR ET HIB REGINA; coronet mint mark. Crowned bust left with rose behind.
Rev: POSUI DEU ADIUTOREM MEU. Shield over long cross with date above.

Marti-

I would say the show was a success.

1)The Greek : I have seen the before and yours is not bad.

2)The Elizabeth : Fabulous. I do collect these and I think yours is absolutely wonderful. Its actually quite hard to find any denomination Elizabeth with even a small amount of detail. The ones that do have a detail on the bust seem to be of much greater value. As long as you didn't pay a fortune, I would say your in the good.

3)The Japanese : I want one! I was in Japan in 2005. Good choice. I have been wanting a gold one. Some good old Samurai money.

4)Gold is always money in the future.

Everything you bought I would have considered buying. So Great job my friend.

AncientNoob,

I know about how poor most of these hammered English coins are simply because of how shallow the strike is. Been looking for a good Elizabeth for awhile. I bought this for $25.00. It was listed for 35.00 which I thought was a great price. The seller offered it to me for 25.00 without me even haggling. I jumped right on it. :)
