Sorry about the quality of the pics. Ordered a 10x loupe and still looking for a better camera. I can see doubling on bottom of date probably machine. But the mint mark definitely has something going on. Maybe rpm?

Am I wrong about this? Is it just Machine Doubling again or rpm? Maybe just terrible pictures. I apologize.

I agree, the pics aren't the best. But having a light at the proper wattage and then using no flash may work better.

Ummmm the "71" at the bottom appears to be clipped, so does the the "S". I think, with the pics provided, its Machine Doubling.

Others will chime in but this is my opinion..... Typically if it is an OLDER, pre-1990's DDO, all the devices and letters can be doubled, but its rare to see the mint mark doubled. DDO's and DDR's - the doubling is at the same height as the original device (letter or number) or ADDS to that letter or number, making it wider, fatter, higher or otherwise. Machine Doubling cuts into the device and may remove portions of it. I use this site for the "classic Machine Doubling" pictures.....

Thank you collector corner. That was my first thought. I had never seen the mint mark doubled like that.
