Do any of you have any information on the piece I have pictured here? It is the same size as a Cdn dollar, and approx the same weight. It does look much better in person.

Interesting piece, I wonder if it is to commemorate King George in India.

Most Edward VIII "fantasy crowns" I have encountered are dated "1936" (although they were, of course, struck much later than 1936). The use of "1937" on these pieces is curious, since Edward VIII was well and truly un-kinged by 1937.

Interesting information. I had no detail on this piece, as it was part of a larger lot my brother bought. I knew it was not an RCM official product, but did not know its pedigree. thanks

Will someone please explain what a pattern snd a fantasy dollars are? I've seen these terms used before. I don't understand there meaning as applying to coins.

I find this funny that my post is resurrected after so many months....
A pattern coin is a piece that minted by a recognized mint but is not slated for release, they usually are minted to test of the design and production techniques.
A fantasy coin, much harder to describe.. I liken it to coin that is issued by a non recognized mint, much like the coins minted by the Franklin Mint in the 80's. It is usually worthless and can not be use as real coinage anywhere. Some times they are made from bullion so are worth the bullion value.
