Is this a die attrition error. It looks like a MAD, but the tops of the letters of "In God" have been cut into instead of the rim just being thicker. The pic of "ONE" was taken in case the reverse of the area in question was needed. I know "ONE" shows signs of MD along the bottom of the letters. Thanks all!

It looks scratched into the coin. Like a coin counter/vending machine may have damaged the coin. If it were a die issue, then it would have been raised.

It's a die attrition error. The groove you see is the impression of a burr that formed along the edge of the worn-away die face. Burrs form in a small percentage of such errors.

So, I take it, this is a fairly rare error. I'm not planning on trying to sell it anyway as I am going to try to complete as much of the error/variety checklist as I can, until I kick off anyway. Is there any value to this type of error? The third pic on this link is very similar:

Small die attrition errors have negligible value. Large ones can cost a fair amount of money. That said, I've never seen one sold under a correct description.
