Just bought this off of ebay, kind of an impulse buy. I haven't had an uncleaned lot in some time, missed the cleaning and identification process. Got it for $164 including shipping. Listed as 100 roman coins 230gr. I can make out what might be one or two Constantinople commemorative and the captive being dragged but not much else.

The price of uncleaned coins has really gone up in the last several years.

Bottom right coin looks interesting. And eesh, the price has gone up! I try not to spend more than 50p per coin (with £1 extra allocated to each 'special' coin). This lot looks good though - some which will benefit a lot from the cleaning process. Id say to whack the culls in to a long term bath as soon as you get them - I've had some nice coins come out of my culls pile.

I might have got it for $90 if I played sniper. The seller had another lot go for $95, I just liked this one better and like I said... impulse buy. The bottom right one along with the red as and a few other just really caught my attention.

I don't think there is much to clean off these, IMHO. But the identification process will be fun, and you may find an interesting "barbarous" (Unofficial) type.

Got them in today, I haven't taken any pics yet because I have them in dw right now. But I did go through them before and Masis you are right there isn't much to clean off of most but they are all pretty thick. From what I can see right now, I have in this lot 6 broken and in bad shape, 9 fallen horseman, 6 standards, 4 captives being dragged, and 3 Constantinople commemorative. I also found 2 severely scratched including the bottom right one, which was a let down because I was looking forward to that one, and the other was to see if it was silver. On the plus side, I have 3 decent byzantine follis (but I know very little about them and it's about time I learn), 2 Caracalla provenance, 1 septimius severus provenance, 1 faustina, and a bunch look promising. But the star of the lot so far is a crescent moon and star, it looks like a Caracalla from thrace but I have to look into it more. All in all I'm happy with this lot.
