12 days ago I won an auction for a 2010 5oz ATB Yosimite in a NCG slab graded ms69 early release my cost was 180.01.

I should have noticed this is the first sale the seller has made in 2 years.

He said he sent it out 2 days after the auction ended.
It hasn't shown up yet. I then asked him, on Saturday if he had a tracking number. He said he would get one. WHich tells me he never sent it out. I think he doesn't like the price he got for it, and never sent it out, waiting for me to open a case with ebay. Which I have done. I am disappointed. I wanted that coin at that price. It would have been my first slabbed coin.

I am looking to get the series starting from 2010.

We will see if he sent it or not depending on his response to my case opening.

I communicated with him this morning...
Told him I had opened a case but if the coin showed up in the next couple of days, I would close the case.
He said I would have the coin.

It is a much-too-abused excuse. Though it isn't an explanation for it getting "lost". I detest it when a seller gets too short a price at auction and then "it disappears from their inventory" and they cancel the sale. IMO, they should get dinged for that BS somehow - maybe a small penalty/fine by ebay that goes to the buyer.

I once had a seller email me that he had suddenly gotten sick, before the auction ended, and was in the hospital so he couldn't send the coin out for a little while. It took 2 weeks but he did eventually send it so I was fine. At least he emailed me a few days in.

Pretty sure they do now. If the buyer doesn't agree to the sale cancellation I'm pretty sure the seller still gets hit with the eBays fees to discourage that.

Its one of my pet peeves though. Dont do no reserve .99 cent auctions unless youre willing to sell that item for .99 cents.

100% agree basebal21, as usual.

But the "penalty" shouldn't just go to ebay in their fees. The buyer is out his "bargain" and should be compensated for what is an obvious BS ploy by the seller. Maybe the seller should be fined the difference between the auction-win price and say wholesale minimally. The buyer is OUT a good deal and the seller shouldn't be allowed to cheat them like that. IMO

I'd never do that to a buyer. It is unethical and bad business. If you play the "99c auction" roulette game and lose, you cannot expect a do-over by lying and cheating your way out of it. Yet some are doing just that!

I dont disagree with the premise though I'm not sure that would be the best idea. If they did that they should also do something for buyers that buy something and then never pay or respond to emails/agree to cancel the sale.

Sellers with stores can prevent that from happening, but if you dont have one I dont believe you can require payment for the item to sell.

To close this out. I escalated the case to paypal this morning.
They were pretty quick in response. I got all my money back.
After I left a negative review, I noticed two other negative reviews.
All for the same issue.

2 days before my auction the seller had sold the same coin to someone else and never sent it.

Avoid ebay seller jonesy08
